Summary
This course is designed to refresh the knowledge of Safety Representatives who have previously attended the full training course (either with Ibec Academy, or elsewhere).
At the end of the programme participants will:
- Describe simple methods to improve organisational OHS culture
- Outline suitable OSH Safety representative inspection routines for various industries
- Discuss Current trends and updates in OSH management and safety representation guidance
- Apply efficient hazard identification techniques
- Employ effective communication and consultation techniques suitable to the safety rep role
This programme is for:
Experienced safety representatives, Safety Managers, Supervisors or OHS Specialists who want to update and improve their understanding of the role and functions of Safety Representatives.
Approach
The programme is delivered online by experienced Ibec Executives who provide members with OSH advice, consultancy, and training daily. Programme participants are encouraged to express their views and experiences. The programme facilitates participant discussion to ensure a thorough understanding of the key points and their application. Real life case studies and exercises will be used to ensure a real practical understanding of each topic.

- Update on the latest OSH policy developments and safety representative guidance
Updated Safety Representative Guidance
- Will be based on the updated content in the Safety Representative Guidance document (Version 3)
Programme Facilitator
Darell Fernandes
Darrell, a qualified electrician and electronics service technician, is an Ibec Academy trainer with extensive knowledge in the areas of Occupational Safety and Health Management, Emergency Management, Crisis Management, Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Planning, Management Systems Development, Coaching and Mentoring, Facilitation and Communication Skills.
He also worked as an instructor and member of the Defence Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incident response panel and was a regular contributing columnist for the Health and Safety Review providing expert insight and analysis regarding all aspects of Occupational Safety and Health Management.
